Jim Peach, an NMSU distinguished professor of economics, submitted a retirement letter to his department head in which he explains the reason he is leaving — namely, he does not want to work under the current board of regents.
“In more than 40 years in the academic world, I have never seen a more incompetent board. The Board has done and will continue to do serious damage to this great institution,” Peach’s letter read.
Peach has been working at NMSU for 38 years and has received awards for outstanding funded research and teaching excellence. His time at the university will effectively end on June 30, 2018.
Peach’s letter, which was dated April 23, 2018, concludes with well-wishes. “I wish nothing but the best for NMSU.”
